We’re very, very busy at the Cottage as we’ve begun our transformation into the beautiful colors of fall, as fall foliage appears and the ghosts come out to play! Yep, our annual Fall Open House is almost here. Mark your calendars for August 28th! Those of you who have attended this event know what you’re in store for. But remember, we always try our best to surprise you and we usually do! For those of you who have never attended a Fall Open House are in for a treat, as the Cottage is filled with the aromas and beauty of fall and the most ghoulish and spooktacular Halloween sights! Along with all of the wonderful Halloween and Thanksgiving treasures you’ll find, the first 75 customers who spend $25 will get a special gift. We’ll also be serving free refreshments, and sampling some very tasty foods.

You’ll find our Kitchen stocked with many wonderful food items and delectable treats for your Fall family gatherings! New food lines are arriving at the Cottage from Country Living, Wonderful Pies in a Jar… so simple to make and oh, so tasty! Plus, you’ll find our Fall essentials like our famous House of Webster Pumpkin Butter, Apple Butter, and Jellies, plus Barefoot Contessa, easy fixing Sticky Finger Scones, those very scrumptious Colorado Kernels, tantalizing dips and so much more.

We have some truly beautiful Fall tableware and new linens from April Cornell and Heritage Lace to set your Thanksgiving table and an abundance of wonderful Fall décor. Of course, you’ll find the much-loved wooden picks, signs and block sitters from our talented artist Karen Kordova who makes these exclusively for Mulberry Cottage! These always fly out the door, so I’d suggest, when you see the ones you want, buy them right away because they probably won’t be there when you return! The wonderful Fall fragrances of ever-popular Warm Glow, McCall’s and WoodWick candles fill the store. Ahh… the scents of Fall. Most stores typically tuck their Thanksgiving wares in a small corner, but not at Mulberry Cottage! I can honestly say I believe we have one of the biggest, unique Fall selections in the entire South Bay! We love Fall and it shows!

Of course there’s Halloween with so many items from the scary fun to the whimsical. Our Halloween room was a BIG HIT last year so you can expect to find our frightful Bedroom all adorned with Halloween sights. Witches, spiders, and ghosts. Oh my! But don’t be afraid… no witch, ghost or creepy spider will scare you, for they’re all resting up for their special night. Everyone’s favorite Halloween Heritage Lace panels, spider webs, lamp shade toppers, and tablecloths are in the shop too. Last year we sold out and had to do several re-orders. And this year we have some NEW items, so come in and pick up your favorites. These items will transform any room into Halloween instantly! We even have a sleepy hollow forest filled with your favorite forest creatures!

Also to help get you in style for Fall, the new Vera Bradley Fall line has arrived! I know you Vera fans have been waiting for this, and you’ll just love her new colors. We have so many wonderful treasures, I guarantee you won’t have to do any more shopping, looking or hunting for that special item to make your Fall gatherings complete! You will be finished… Well, almost finished. There’s always the last minute trip to the grocery store that I can never seem to avoid. If only I could help you with that too!

I also want to say “Happy Birthday” to some special people in my life; my sister Cheryl who’s Birthday is August 13th, my sister Terri who’s birthday is August 16th and to my Dad who’s birthday is August 22nd. I miss you Dad and I’m thankful you’re watching over me and for the values you’ve instilled in me.
