“A grandmother pretends she doesn’t know who you are on Halloween.”

Ghostly Greetings to you!
My gracious thanks to all who attended our Fall Open House! You made it such a wonderful day, just like a family gathering! A VERY LARGE gathering! I hope you all enjoyed the “HAUNTED BEDROOM” and the glorious colors and scents in our Autumn displays. I want to thank all of my Mulberry Gals who worked so hard to get the shop ready. They are truly special people! Now that we’ve had a brief rest, our creative juices are preparing for our Christmas Open House. We have some truly wonderful plans in store to put your heart in the holiday spirit! So rest up after your Halloween party because our Christmas Open House will be on Nov. 7th. More details in next month’s newsletter!
Even if you were at our Open House, you should come back in, because we’ve had new arrivals come in. More fun Fall and Halloween outdoor picks have arrived plus more beautiful and eerie lace lamp shades that you all love, (but hurry in, these sell fast). We also just got in some wonderful Witch’s Brew which the kids will enjoy and some very yummy old-fashioned Popcorn Balls that will be a big hit at your Halloween Festivities! We have so many unique candy, drink, and food items that I can’t name them all, so ask one of the Mulberry Gals to help you find some tasty treats for your festive gatherings! And for the Wee Forest Folk collectors, some adorable new Halloween Wee Forest Folk are available. We’re taking special orders now so hurry in so you don’t miss out!
Along with all the new ghoulish treats, we have also brought in some wonderful every day items. One of our favorite lines, Natural Life has some beautiful new necklaces, wallets and cute little “DITTY” bags. The Vera Bradley fall line is in with all their wonderful new colors and patterns. You must see Vera’s new microfiber line in Espresso & Black, and their new Caviar and Wine Nylon collections. We were also very lucky to get in the last of Vera’s retired Canvas line. We personally love this line so much, that Michelle (one of our display gals) and I both got one. We have just a few pieces left so come in quick because these won’t be available again! We’ve also added one more item to Vera’s Collection, Vera’s fashion eyewear! With their signature patterned etchings, these sunglasses are beautiful and wonderfully made. The Mulberry girls are even getting special training to help you select the right style to fit your face perfectly!
There’s another new line I want to tell you about… Mudlark specialty stationary, lotions, and soaps. You’ll love their beautiful packaging and stationary, and the wonderful scent of their soap. Right away, the fragrance of the soap reminded me of my grandmother… a wonderful Almond scent that took me back to those precious years when I used to visit my Grandmother and she used a warm washcloth to wash my little face after waking up from a nap. I even held the soap up to my younger sister Janet (who works at the shop on Fridays) and I asked her “What does this scent remind you of?” Instantly, she looked at me and said “Grandma”. We both smiled with tears in our eyes… so I just know you’ll love this line!
Ahhhh… talking about my grandmother reminds me of my youth, and now that it’s Halloween time, I’m reminded of some fun, fun times… Nowadays, everyone goes out and buys their costumes. Well, when I was a wee little one, we never bought costumes. Nope. My mother, the creative person she was, always made mine. The costume that sticks out most in my mind is the robot. Yup, I was a robot. I’ll describe it for you: Two cardboard boxes, one for my body one for my head, and A LOT OF TIN FOIL! Also, a white sweatshirt and silver tights, and coat hangers for antennas. You can imagine how it looked. I truly feel that homemade costumes are the best… even if it’s just a sheet with two holes to make a ghost! Thanks Mom. I had the most unique costumes. At least my parents could always tell who their little ones were… even though I secretly wanted to wear one of those store bought fairy outfits! 😉
A very happy, wonderfully ghoulish and safe Halloween to you all!
Jamie
